Champions League qualifier v FBK Kaunas

By: j | July 30th, 2008

Full-time - Rangers 0 FBK Kaunas 0.
Tactically this puts us in a very tough position and now must win in Lithuania to advance.
90 minute: 3 minutes of added time. Everyone must push forward !!!
88 minute: Andrius Velicka and Kris Boyd are playing quite aggressively but not getting a clear shot. Kaunas is an absolute defensive swarm
82 minute: Kaunas makes a tactical substitution with Marius Cinikas for Linas Pilibaitis. I’m presuming a defense stance as they are absolutely playing for the draw
73 minute: I like this. A bit of venom in the lineup now. Andrius Velicka in for Kenny Miller
65 minute: Thank you Walter. The goal scoring machine, often termed as “Kris Boyd” now enters the match, replacing Jean Claude Darcheville. Lets go Kris, we need a goal.
61 minute: Kaunas makes a tactical substitution and replaces Ledesma with Nukri Manchkhava. This is looking quite dangerous as Kaunas knows a nil draw will give them a huge advantage as they head home.
half-time substitution: Nacho Novo comes in for Christian Dailly to inject a spark.

***update***
At the half the match is tied at nil. Chances have been rare with Saša Papac being the most active man on the pitch.

Not a good way for the Gers to start the year. Was Kenny Miller firing blanks all evening?

in every direction this was a miserably played match for the Gers. It wasn’t so much your favourite, Kenny - it was a combined level of mediocre performances. It was radically different with Kris Boyd and Andrius Velicka but Kaunas was also sitting back knowing a draw is a great position for them.
