Champions League qualifying round set

By: j | July 23rd, 2008

Our course through the second qualifying round is set as we’re to face FBK Kaunas of Lithuania who easily handled the Andorran FC Santa Coloma in the first round.

The two leg series kicks-off at Ibrox on Wednesday 30 July, with the second leg on 5 August. The Lithuanian squad is coached by former FC Porto / Portugal U21 coach José Couceiro. In discussing the merits of his squad Mr. Couceiro noted, “Kaunas have a lot of strong individual players, but the team is poorly prepared both in terms of technique and tactics. A lot of improvements are needed in this respect.”

Of interest is the possibility of new-man, Striker Andrius Velička, a Lithuanian International who came up with FBK Kaunas, seeing his first action for the Rangers in the match.
