Kris Boyd looks to be headed to Birmingham
By: j | January 6th, 2009In somewhat of a surprise move, the Rangers appear to be on verge of losing striker Kris Boyd to Championship-side Birmingham City. The Rangers have confirmed the enquiry and Rangers chairman Sir David Murray said to BBC Sport:
“Birmingham have made an enquiry, we talked about money but we haven’t agreed a fee.”
The BBC equally noted that a spokesperson for Birmingham City said the offer was accepted and are “75% certain that Kris Boyd will be a Birmingham player by the end of the week.”
This would be the third of targeted ten reductions in Walter Smith’s roster.

Unless they have a some mystery impressive replacement lined up letting Boyd go would be shocking. The gap’s back down to five points and selling the league’s top scorer (even if some never cease to question his abilty/work rate and so on) would seem to be close to surrender in the title race to me. With Cousin already gone earlier in the year it would leave us extremely thin up top. I know Smith wants to thin the squad a bit but selling players we actually need instead of the dross just doesn’t make sense..

if kris boyd leaves ,we have thrown away our chance of winning the league.we lost the league marginally last season and playing boyd more in my opinion would have won it for us.we need to get rid of players, but boyd is the last player who should be going.walter smiths future at rangers could be in jeapordy if this descision(if boyd goes)backfires
