Pedro Mendes?
By: j | July 24th, 2008
The Daily Record is reporting that Walter Smith is entering talks with Portsmouth to bring in stylish midfielder Pedro Mendes.
The twenty-nine year-old ex-Porto man is a brilliant playmaker and has inexplicably seen his role with Harry Redknapp’s squad fall (I tend to like Harry’s managerial abilities but this one shows a trace of madness to me) and the fee is said to be in the £2.5m range. The sticking point will be digesting Pedro’s £32k per week salary and for the deal to get done, there will need to be some movement in salary by the club or most likely the player himself.
Updates to follow but mark my words, Pedro would be a sublime addition to the Gers.

Playmaker? I thought he was a defender? Or a defensive midfielder?

I certainly think of him more of a creative playmaker in the midfield although that might just be a choice of adjectives. What do you think of him possibly coming to the Rangers?
