

Rangers squeeze by Partick Thistle 2-1
By: j | September 24th, 2008Rangers squeezed by Partick Thistle 2-1 with a Pedro Mendes goal in extra time. The Rangers now advance to the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup. Kris Boyd gave Rangers the lead at the twenty-fifth minute set-up by Steven Davis. Only eight minutes later Stephen McKeown leveled the match and it wasn’t four minutes shy of the two-hour mark that Pedro Mendes gave Rangers the 2:1 victory.
Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall commented after the match:
“We’re devastated. Mendes’ goal was a cruel blow.”
“It was a great effort and there was a lot of good football but ultimately it came short.”
